I also value quiet ‘think’ time; it was one of the few advantages of my previous long commutes. I have to be intentional about making time for it now. And I suspect it’s partly why people get good ideas in the shower ;) I do read on my phone, though. In fact, ironically, I read this post in my Substack app on my phone 😆
I’m thinking about it. Some of the ‘requirements’ are tough for me, and probably for others who may have even less control over carving out blocks of uninterrupted time for reading marathons. Not everyone can go to a (real or home-equivalent) coffeehouse and read at length in peace. :)

Are you willing to give a chance to the more ritualistic reading approach? I find that it works womderfully for me.
